“Majid Al Futtaim Properties said on
Sunday said it will invest 180 million Omani riyals into Oman to build Mall of
Oman, the country’s largest shopping and entertainment destination.” Zawaya
Expected to begin construction sometime next year the mall will be built on
157,000 sq meters of land allocated in Bausher. It will offer a premium
shopping experience, encompassing 350 stores in addition to a leisure
component. Anchor tenants at the Mall of Oman will include Carrefour, VOX
Cinemas and Magic Planet, in addition to several other brands, set to make
their first entry into Oman via the Mall of Oman.
“Majid al Futtaim
Properties, the leading developer, owner and operator of shopping malls, hotels
and complementary mixed-use communities in the MENA region, on Sunday announced
an RO180mn investment to build the ‘Mall of Oman,' a super regional mall, in
Bausher” Muscat Daily
I
was having a discussion on the Aishelaqtta Instagram account, as to the
validation of having yet another mall constructed. A follower argued that it
was basically Al Futtaims purgative as to how they are to invest their money.
My argument was that with that amount of investment, the project should’ve been
based on the need and requirements of the country. What’s your take on this?
