Local Happenings: Omantel Business Excellence SME Awards

Omantel conducts SME Award’s road shows across the Sultanate with support from Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Performance Advisors, Ernst & Young. The awards will recognize rising stars in the SME segment in Oman, and will celebrate young entrepreneurs who have made their mark in the local market.

“Omantel – the pioneer integrated communication services provider in the Sultanate – held several workshops for small and medium enterprises to spread awareness about the 2nd Edition of the Omantel Business Excellence SME Awards. A team from Omantel Business Unit has visited Muscat and Sohar as part of schedule to meet small and medium enterprises. During the meetings, the team received a number of applications to take part at the competition and answered queriesregarding the Business Awards. The Omantel Business Excellence SME Awards aims at boosting the SME sector and recognizing the rising stars and entrepreneurs.” Web source

The Omantel Business Excellence SME Awards will be presented in 5 categories, namely:

• Best Performing Company - Small Enterprise(Head count: less than 10 workers; Annual Sales: less than RO 250,000)
• Best Performing Company - Medium Enterprise (10 to 99 workers; Annual Sales: RO 250,000 - 1.5mn)
• Best New Entrant
• Turnaround Success Story of the Year
• Community Contribution

This initiative by Omantel is to promote an entrepreneurship culture among the different sectors of our society especially the SME sector; it is considered the backbone of our national economy and a key driver to growth in the country. Registeration ends on the 25th Nov to register click here
