"The Challenge Tour was first brought to Oman by National Bank of Oman in 2013. After a successful and inspiring golf event last year, the National Bank of Oman golf classic will return for a second year. This penultimate competition of the 2014 Challenge Tour season will be held at Al Mouj Golf, The Wave – Muscat, a stunning venue in Oman’s bustling capital. 84 Challenge Tour players along with 30 participants invited by the National Bank of Oman, will compete in the competition between Thursday 30th October and Sunday 2nd November. The full field of 114 players, up to ten of which may be amateurs, will all compete for the ultimate prize" Source
Last year was the first time The Challenge Tour was introduced to Oman
"The European Challenge Tour has achieved incredible growth in recent years. The tour visits a variety of countries in Europe and has now progressed along to China, Azerbaijan Kazakhstan, Dubai and now to the Sultanate of Oman! The Challenge Tour gives professionals the opportunity to play competitive professional golf at a high standard while also providing them a platform to progress on to the European Tour; with the top 15 in the Challenge Tour series obtaining a European Tour card for the following season. Challenge tour players also can gain World ranking points which are awarded for high finishes in the Tour events. A player who wins three Challenge Tour events in a season is fast-tracked onto the main European Tour immediately." Source
