Oman's Ministry of Tourism has won the UNESCO award for the creation of the 'Muscat Geo heritage Auto Guide.'
The idea of the project is based on having an application that includes information on various geo sites across the region accessible via smart devices. The programme includes maps for Muscat, geological sites and their paths allowing to facilitate access to destinations and to provide information on the sites. The application provides valuable tourist, environmental and geological information on the Sultanate.
The Muscat Geoheritage project received the UNESCO award for its commitment to sustainable development, education and cultural communion as part of efforts made by the Ministry of Tourism to develop the tourism sector in the Oman.
I have just downloaded the application and looking forward to utilise it over the weekend during my trip to Nakhal and Rustaq...now praying for better network coverage.
