Oman Sail has one core objective - to use the sport of
sailing as a vehicle to contribute to the development of Oman and Omanis- source
I am writing to you about an experience which most of might
have heard about but have not actually experienced. We must’ve all heard of the
Omani Laser World Championship which started on the 28th of November 2013 and
went on to the 3rd January 2014. You haven’t? Well I have written about the
event here.
The Oman Laser World Championships consisted of three
different championships of which I was invited to witness the last part of the
race that was happening during the New Year. Approximately 80 sailors from over 25 countries.
The event took place in Al Mussanah Sport City at the Millennium Resort. Oman Sail team arranged for me to ride on a rib boat (first
experience), which took me in the midst of the sailors and all of the boats. It
was a majestic scene looking on and seeing all the hard work that goes into the
race, and the actual young sailors. The
speed in which these youth have to navigate the sails and boat was astounding
and the tranquil waters around made for a very surreal portrayal of all that
was going on. I must say that it was a beautiful thing to witness for a layman
person like myself, where such an opportunity would’ve been farfetched. 
I seriously cannot do justice of the scene with a few 100
sails drifting by in the sunset, and the background of blue against the whites
of the sail. I have been able to take pictures on the actual day, and will be
posting a video in which you can actual hear me being dumb stuck of what I was

Also don’t miss the opportunity to see the next coming event
with “Sailing Arabia the Tour”. Racing to eight beautiful marinas in the Gulf; Sailing
Arabia-The Tour is a yacht race sailed on Farr 30 one-design boats. The event
will start in in Manama (Bahrain) on the 4th Feb 2014 before
stopping in Doha (Qatar), Abu Dhabi (UAE), Dubai (UAE), Ras Al Khaimah (UAE), Musandam (Oman), Musannah (Oman) and ending at
